Mark A. Ziccarelli Mark A. Ziccarelli

A graduate of Mentor High School, Mark A. Ziccarelli graduated magna cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1976 where he was admitted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from Ohio State University in 1979.

Following graduation from law school, Mr. Ziccarelli entered private practice, and since then, has specialized in the areas of personal injury, domestic relations, workers’ compensation, business litigation, and misdemeanor criminal cases appearing before both state and federal courts.

Mr. Ziccarelli also serves as a Magistrate in the Willoughby Municipal Court since 2001, and as President of the Lake County Bar Association. Mr. Ziccarelli also serves on the Ohio Supreme Court Board for the certification of attorneys as specialists, and was a Trustee for several years for the Ohio Association of Justice. Mr. Ziccarelli is also licensed since 1981 to practice law in the State of Florida.

Mr. Ziccarelli has been a partner for the law firm since 1985. He is married to Shawn and has 2 boys who attend school in the Kirtland School System.

James P. Martello james p. martello

A graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, James P. Martello received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton in 1971 and his Juris Doctor degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1974. Mr. Martello has 34 years of experience in representing claimants in workers’ compensation cases, social security disability cases and personal injury cases throughout northeast Ohio.

Mr. Martello has been representing individuals before the Ohio Bureau of and the Industrial Commission of Ohio for 34 years. He has handled many complex injury cases before the Industrial Commission of Ohio in various cities across northern Ohio and in various county Common Pleas Courts.

Mr. Martello is a member of the Cleveland Bar Association, Akron Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association, National Association of Social Security Representatives, Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers and American Association of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Martello is licensed to practice law before all State and Federal Courts in Ohio including the United States Federal District Court and United States Court of Appeals.

Mr. Martello has been representing individuals in cases before the Social Security Administration since 1974. Mr. Martello has handled hundreds of hearings before Federal Administrative Law Judges throughout Ohio and in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana and Michigan. Mr. Martello has had an extremely successful track record in obtaining benefits for social security disability claimants who have previously been denied benefits.

Mr. Martello also represents individuals in PERS claims, SERS claims, long term disability claims, Longshoremen cases (Jones Act), medical malpractice, railroad (FELA) and workers’ compensation and personal injury claims resulting from auto accidents and construction site accidents.

Mr. Martello is married to Mary Ann and they are the parents of Michael, Carrie (Quinn) McElwee, Daniel and Jeffrey and they have two grandchildren Cecelia and Lucy.

Thomas J. Mayernik thomas j. mayernik

Thomas Mayernik is a lifelong resident of Lake County, where he still resides with his wife Michelle and their three children, Joshua, Matthew, and Lauren. He is a graduate of Lake Catholic High School.

Thomas graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1986 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was a multi-year letterman in football, was the Lee Tressel Academic Excellence Award winner, and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a National Leadership Honor Society. He graduated from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1989, where he was a member of the Jerome Prince Moot Court team, which won the award for the best brief. He was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a National Honor Society which recognizes excellence in advocacy.

Thomas has been in private practice since 1989. The first few years as an associate in a regional insurance defense firm, where he gained first and second chair trial experience. In 1993 he joined Ziccarelli, & Martello, where he has specialized as lead trial attorney in the areas of personal injury, workers compensation, contracts, commercial transactions, and probate matters, appearing in both state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. He is active in his church, having served as a Trustee, and has served as an arbitrator and mediator in the local courts.

William H. Riderwilliam h. rider

William Rider has been associated with Ziccarelli & Martello for more than 10 years. Since joining the firm he has devoted 100% of his time to litigation.

A graduate of Wickliffe High School in Lake County, Ohio, William Rider graduated from the College of Engineering at Ohio University in 1969. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1974. While attending Cleveland-Marshall he was a Law Review Associate, a Law Review Editor and the author of a Note published in the Law Review.

Prior to joining Ziccarelli & Martello, Mr. Rider was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio and the managing attorney for an insurance defense law firm.

Mr. Rider has spent his entire career of more than 30 years specializing in all types of personal injury litigation. He devotes 100% of his practice at Ziccarelli & Martello to representing individuals and the families of individuals who have suffered personal injuries, including wrongful death, as a result of automobile accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, public transportation accidents, underinsured and uninsured motorist accidents, railroad accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and premises liability.

Mr. Rider is licensed to practice law in all Ohio courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He is currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

Mr. Rider and his wife Lorene reside in Shaker Heights. They have two adult children, Melanie and Ethan. Whenever possible the Riders enjoy cruising in their street rod.

Mark E. Kremser mark E. Kremser

A graduate of Brooklyn High School, Mark E. Kremser graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green State University in 1993 where he was admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in 1996. As a member of the CWRU Niagara Moot Court Team, Mr. Kremser won the award for Best Applicant Brief, and was later inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a National Honor Society recognizing achievement in advocacy.

Following graduation from law school, Mr. Kremser entered private practice, and since then, has specialized in the areas of personal injury, domestic relations, malpractice, workers compensation, and commercial litigation, appearing before both state and federal courts. Before joining Ziccarelli & Martello in June of 2007, Mr. Kremser gained first and second chair trial experience contributing as sole Associate Attorney to a renowned Greater Cleveland Area trial lawyer, Senior Associate Attorney with a civil defense litigation firm, and then launching and managing his own private law practice. In his career, Mr. Kremser has assisted plaintiffs obtain verdicts that ranged between $800,000 to $6.4 million.

Mr. Kremser is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.

When he is not practicing law, Mark is a devoted husband and father to his wife, Laura, and their children Kyra and Connor. He also does volunteer work with Autism Speaks and the Westlake Schools’ Citizen Action Committee.

Danielle Coleman Danielle S. Coleman

Danielle Coleman is proud to be an associate attorney of Ziccarelli & Martello. She graduated from Lake Catholic High School in 1994 with honors. She was president of her senior class. In 1998 Ms. Coleman graduated from John Carroll University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English. She volunteered for a number of organizations including Harvest for Hunger and the Humility of Mary.

Danielle earned her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 2001. She was involved in a number of organizations including being the President of the Environmental Law Society and Secretary of the Law Association of Women. She was also awarded the Outstanding Woman Award in 2001.

Before joining Ziccarelli & Martello, Danielle focused her practice on asbestos defense and workers’ compensation defense. She now primarily focuses her practice on representing injured workers. Danielle manages the majority of the firm’s administrative settlements. She attends administrative hearings and has argued successfully in front of the Industrial Commission in Columbus, Ohio. She also shares responsibilities of the firm’s workers’ compensation litigation practice.

Danielle and her husband Chris live in Bay Village, Ohio and are the proud parents of a baby girl, McKenna.
